Confusion During Quarantine

I don’t know about you but I’ve been getting a lot of mixed messages from emails, social media fit pros and friends on social in general.

Now’s the time to give yourself grace.
Now’s the time to really buckle down and hit those goals.

It’s totally fine if you aren’t eating normally.  These aren’t normal times.
There’s no more reason to eat your feelings now vs. last month.

Coming out of quarantine 10 lbs heavier! woot woot!
You won’t even recognize me coming out of quarantine–I’m going to be down 20 lbs!

Um. I’m confused.

Seriously I’ve seen all this stuff.  Which is the right position?

I don’t know what it is for you.  You have to decide that.  There is actually no “right” decision here.  Only the decision you make–and then you make it right.

Do you feel like you need grace in your food choices right now? Or do you feel like you need to at least control one thing–what you are eating.

If you decide you’re not going work toward your heath and/or weight loss goals right now, that’s totally fine.  But here’s the important part–don’t beat yourself up about it.  Don’t decide you aren’t going to work toward your goals and then be mad and criticize yourself for gaining weight.  Don’t begrudge yourself the grace you are desiring.  If you eat all the cookies, just enjoy them and don’t make it mean anything about you or your value (because news flash–your value doesn’t change no matter what day, month or year it is!)

If you decide you are going to continue working toward your weight loss goals, that’s also totally fine.  Go get it! You can definitely choose to eat what’s on your plan and just feel all the feelings that come up. That is always an option.  Whether the kids are home all day or whether they are at school.

Here’s a thought from a coach friend of mine that I loved: “there’s never a good reason to emotionally eat. It wastes my time and my life.”

This is what is helping me choose to continue making my health a priority.  This is just life we are experiencing right now.  It’s a different life than I thought I’d be living in April 2020, but it’s all part of life. For me, it doesn’t mean everything is on hold.

I’ve decided not to eat my way through the coronavirus.

What have you decided?
