Lisa’s holistic approach helped me tackle my goals in two ways: there’s the long game of learning to make healthy choices on a daily basis and understanding what leads me to make (or not make) those choices that, over time, can lead to better health and weight loss; and there’s the immediate kickstsart that Lisa provides with meal and/or exercise plans so that I could feel empowered and informed from the get-go.

Before my time with Lisa I let exhaustion and stress make my health decisions for me. Now I can see those things for what they are and, because of the coaching, I truly feel empowered to step back from those feelings and decide to make healthier choices.

Lisa gave me a lot of concrete things to think about instead of thinking about everything I put into my mouth. We coached through the thoughts I was having when I ate and how I felt about it. I did exercises about how I felt getting on the scale. She helped me to relax and count on myself. I actually did lose weight….15 lbs. I still would like to loose 5 more, but I do not feel any stress about it.

Before, I was so obsessed with the my actions in trying to loose weight that it had taken over my life. The biggest thing that has changed for me is learning to identify my thoughts and feelings about food, weight, and my body. I was able to stop feeling so much stress about eating out, feeding groups of people and enjoying life. I feel like I got my power back.

My perspective on food is changing in a much healthier way. It is not the way to reward me, comfort me, or entertain me, food is to nourish me and my body. While special foods are often connected to events, I can plan that into my eating plan and still stay focused on my goals.

I am also okay knowing that this is a slow process. My weight isn’t falling off like in a fad diet, but I am making healthy, natural changes that are starting to show and will pay off in the long run.

Lisa is very caring and a great listener as well as trouble shooter. She is knowledgeable not only in knowing what to eat and how to get fit working out but also in how to get there mentally which for me is the most challenging part.
